Nobody is Perfect!

We live in a world today where almost everyone has bought into the mind set of Satan, a world where the words of our Lord Jesus are said to be  too much.

A world where people have accepted being less than what God says they can be, a world where the common accuse for remaining sinful is, “that  nobody is perfect”, some have even said,” that the only one that was perfect was Jesus and that they are not Jesus.”

What a cop out obviously they did not read the whole Bible for it is written,”“1 There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name  was Job; and that man was perfect and upright, and one that feared God, and eschewed evil.” Job 1:1

The Word of God refers to Job as a perfect man, so either Job was a perfect man according to God’s definition of perfect or God is a liar and Job was not a perfect man.

I believe that God is not a liar and that we need to define what a perfect man is to God.

So let us begin by reading the Words of Jesus for it is written,” 43 Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbor, and hate thine enemy. 44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; 45That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he make his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. 46 For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same? 47 And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so? 48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect. Matthew 5:43-48

Jesus tells us to be perfect like our Father, I want you to notice the behavior associated with being perfect,” Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you.

When we live as a perfect man we love like God loves. So the definition of perfect according to God is becoming a more mature & becoming a more obedient child of God.

Jesus talks about being perfect again for it is written,”16 And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life? 17 And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments. 18 He saith unto him, Which? Jesus said, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, 19 Honor thy father and thy mother: and, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. 20The young man said unto him, All these things have I kept from my youth up: what lack I yet? 21 Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me. 22 But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions. Matthew 19:16-22

Notice that the young man had many things right according to the word of God but he was materialistic which made him not perfect in the site of God.

Becoming perfect is a process according to the word of God for it is written,”2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” Romans 12:2

In order to prove what is the perfect will of God we must renew our minds to what is perfect according to God’s definition.

Part of being perfect is not conforming to the ways of the world, not trying to fit in but living a life that is pleasing to God for it is written,”20 But ye have not so learned Christ; 21 If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus: 22That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; 23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; 24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.” Ephesians 4:20-23

Notice the process of becoming perfect or mature it requires a person to keep growing in the Lord for it is written,”5 And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; 6 And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; 7 And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity. 8 For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 2nd Peter 1:5-8

One of the signs of a perfect follower of Christ is control of their mouth for it is written,”2 For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body. James 3:2

The Apostle Paul teaches us that A Perfect man is another name for a mature man for it is written,”14 But strong meat belongs to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.” Hebrews 5:14

And again,”1 Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God, 2 Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment. 3 And this will we do, if God permit.” Hebrews 6:1-3

The Apostle Paul has a consistent message about being perfect a message which says that we are to keep growing for it is written,”14 That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; 15 But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ: 16 From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplies, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, makes increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.” Ephesians 4:14-16

The Apostle Paul concludes with this fact, that being perfect is a life long journey and that we need to lose that cop out of saying, “ nobody is perfect” and strive for perfection for it is written,” 12 Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus. 13 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, 14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. 15 Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in anything ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you. 16 Nevertheless, whereto we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us mind the same thing.” Philippians 3:12-16

I pray that you get back in the game and strive for perfection in Christ.

Until next time I love you,
