Be Holy for I am Holy

Be Holy for I am Holy

The definition of Holy is to be pure, blameless, consecrated, a saint; according to the Greek word aylos hagios #40 in the Strong’s Exhaustive concordance of the Bible.

We live in world that wants no part of this word Holy.

People are praised for disobeying the ways of God; they are made to be role models for the entire world to look up to.

They say that they are followers of Christ then approve of things that are not of Jesus I quote, “I am a Christian and I approve gay marriage.”

The religious have joined in on the disobedience also teaching doctrines which condone unholy living, but we that are called believe that there is a different standard of living through our Lord Jesus Christ for it is written, “ 7 For God has not called us unto uncleanness, but unto holiness.” 1st Thessalonians 4:7

We understand that some like to teach that they are sinners and that they will always sin, but it is written, “9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should show forth the praises of him who has called you out of darkness into his marvelous light:”           1st Peter 2:9

God’s people, the followers of Christ Jesus are to be different from people in the world and people that are in religion for they live unholy and say that they are just.

No longer are we to live ungodly for it is written, “13 Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; 14 As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance: 15 But as he which has called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; 16 Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.” 1st Peter 1:13-16

God says that we are to be holy as He is holy but some people would say that you are judging them if you quote this scripture, they would say that no one is perfect so therefore being holy is not obtainable, they are wrong according to the word of God.

Now being holy does not happen overnight it is a process for it is written, “22 That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; 23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; 24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness. Ephesians 4:22-24

So in other words one has to mature.

When a follower of Jesus is called out of the world he or she is like a new born baby, they have to be reborn into a deeper understanding of life through the word of God.

They don’t know how to walk, they don’t know how to talk, and they don’t know how to live according to holiness but it is written, “8 This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou may observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.” Joshua 1:8

Being holy requires a person to fully submit to God for it is written, “24 then said Jesus unto his disciples, if any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.”                 Matthew 16:24

And again, “1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” Romans 12:1-2

A true follower of Jesus will take this journey, they will leave the unholy way of life that they have known since they were a child and walk in holiness for it is written, “ 3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ: 4 According as he has chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love.” Ephesians 1:3-4

Living holy and without blame, not like the religious people of this time and age, for they are found with much blame, but the apostle Paul speaks of what it is like to be holy for it is written, “ 9 For ye remember, brethren, our labor and travail: for laboring night and day, because we would not be chargeable unto any of you, we preached unto you the gospel of God. 10 Ye are witnesses and God also, how holily and justly and unblameable we behaved ourselves among you that believe.” 1st Thessalonians 2:9-10

Brothers and sisters when Jesus returns will He find you living holy?

I pray that He does!

Until next time, I love you
