Living in the past

We cannot live in the past every day is a new day the things that happened yesterday cannot be changed only learned from.

Jesus the son of God has given us wisdom from on high through his sayings for it is written, “No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.” Luke 9:62

Jesus paid the price for our sins yet many continue to live their lives in the past repeating the same unfruitful things they did before knowing Christ. They over eat like they did before Jesus saved them from feeding into their sinful flesh, they fornicate like they did before Jesus, they covet after money like they did before Jesus, they exalt themselves to be better than others like they did before Jesus, how are you not living in the past when you are still operating the same way that you did before knowing Christ?

The Bible says the we must be born again according to the book of John chapter 3 verse 3, but are we to be born again to live the same way that we were living? Are we to take things from our past with us or are we to leave them behind?

We are to be born again but of the Spirit of God and not as we were born the first time for we were born into sin and shaped in iniquity and now through Christ we are no longer to live as we did in the past for It is written, “Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which lives and abides forever”. 1st Peter 1:23

In the past we thought with the wisdom of this world which is of Satan the god of this world according to 2nd Corinthians chapter 4 verse 4, but now we no longer believe in the wisdom of this world for it is foolish to God the Father of us all. This is how we do not worry about money or having enough like we did in the past because it is written, “  Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?” Matthew 6:25

We stay out of the past mind set of getting up every day worrying about things that have no eternal reward, we no longer live a life focused on ourselves but rather a life focused on obeying God. Before Jesus came into our lives we were blind, we could not see the truth, we were caught up into the past ways of thinking, the familiar patterns of Satan’s reign here on earth, the generations and generations of people doing the wrong things caused us to believe that the wrong things were right.

The Bible says, “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation.” 2nd Corinthians 5:17-18

We no longer desire the taste of sin nor of sinful things, money has no real worth any more, food has no real worth any more, fleshly desirers have no real worth any more, the acceptance of men and the desire to be lifted up in pride has no real worth any more.

The past you once knew through Christ no longer exist for it is written, “put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.” Ephesians 4:22-24

The Bible says that our past ways cannot enter the kingdom of God but many ignorantly continue to live according to their past ways for it is written, “Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.” 1st Corinthians 6:9-10

Brothers and sisters stay out of the past, learn from your mistakes do repeat them for it is written, “Trust in the LORD with all your heart; and lean not unto your own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” Proverbs 3:5-6

Until next time I love you
