God knows my Heart

God knows my Heart

For many years people have avoided truly living a life that is consistent with the life of a servant of God. They hide behind the statement, “ God knows my heart.”

The truth of the matter is that God does know our hearts and that they are wicked for it is written, “20And he said, That which comes out of the man, that defiles the man. 21For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornication, murders, 22Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness: 23All these evil things come from within, and defile the man. Mark 7:20-23

Our words and actions tell what is truly in our hearts, if a person covets after riches, greed is in their heart, if a person has sexual relations outside of wedlock perversion is in their heart, if a person speaks out against the name of Jesus blasphemy is in their heart.

God truly does know what is in the hearts of us all, but most of the time we as people do not know what is in our own hearts for it is written, “9The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?” Jeremiah 17:9

Many of us trust in our hearts to guide our decision and the Word of God says, “ that the heart is deceitful.”

People have let their hearts lead them into all sorts of trouble but we cannot be led by our hearts but by the word of God for it is written, “ Man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.” Matthew 4:4

By the Word of God we can truly uncover what is in our hearts and if we can uncover it then we can repent and change what’s in our hearts for it is written, “12For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. 13Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.” Hebrews 14:12-13

All things are naked before God and nothing in our hearts are hidden from him. Although we say that we love him with our mouths our hearts show the true picture for it is written, “ These people honor me with their lips but their hearts are far from me teaching for tradition the doctrines of men.” Mark 7:6-7

And again, “ if you love me, keep my commandments.” John 14:15
We are not to continue being disobedient and saying, “ God knows my heart!”

We can no longer hide behind this wicked statement for we now understand that the Word of God is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of our hearts and it is compared to looking into a mirror and seeing a true picture of what is in our hearts for it is written, “ For if any be a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a mirror: for he beholds himself and goes his way and straightway forgets what manner of man he was. whoso looks into the perfect law of liberty (The Word of God), and continues therein he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.” James 1:23-25

In order to change our hearts we must first see that there is a need for a change.

If we will read the word of God it will show us our hearts and if we are truthful with ourselves to what we find in our hearts, we can ask God to change our hearts for it is written, “9If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. I John 1:9

But we cannot change our hearts unless we first accept and admit to the wickedness that is founded in our hearts, instead of making excuses for not living right and telling others that, “ God knows our hearts.”

We have to start being truthful with ourselves and cry out to our Savior Christ Jesus for it is written, “Create in me a clean heart, O God and renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from thy presence and take not thy spirit from me. Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit. ” Psalm 51:10-12

I pray that you ask God to clean your heart instead of covering up how dirty it is!

Until next time I love you,
