PRAYER

The definition of Praying is, “talking or speaking to God.” But people have been known to pray to the god of this world, which the Bible refers to as Satan (2nd Corinthians 4:4), as well as all sorts of other gods.

In History people have prayed to everything they could imagine, Golden Calves, half man and half dog statues, Giant Owls, statues of ladies with six arms, and even prayed to the mother of Jesus, Mary.

The Word of God clearly says, “13Thou shall fear the LORD thy God, and serve him, and shall swear by his name. 14Ye shall not go after other gods, of the gods of the people which are round about you; 15(For the LORD thy God is a jealous God among you) lest the anger of the LORD thy God be kindled against thee, and destroy thee from off the face of the earth.
Deuteronomy 6:13-15

The people of today have not and do not listen, they do not obey, and instead the world that we live in is filled with hopelessness and despair. They have taken prayer out of the schools, out of the courtrooms; people look to the government and to riches to provide them with a peace of mind.

Many have turned to religious organizations; they flock to all the many gods in which these churches provide but it is written, “14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” II Chronicles 7:14

People are so full of pride they do not like the ideal of bowing their knees to a God that truly loves them. They chose not to pray to God for forgiveness but rather to trust in their own ways.

They continue to trust is science and in the wisdom of men for answers yet they remain in sicknesses. True prayer is powerful for it is written, “15 and the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him. 16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.” James 5:15-16

Many people today claim to know Jesus, they say that they are followers of Him yet they walk around worried about worldly things, they are anxious and trust not in prayer for it is written, “6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7

There is a peace and a confidence that is associated with praying for it is written, “13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God. 14 And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he hears us: 15 And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.” I John 5:13-17

God is not a genie in a bottle, he does not grant people’s worldly request but if we pray in the way that we have been taught by Jesus, we know that He will answer for it is written, “9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. 11 Give us this day our daily bread. 12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. 13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For your is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.” Matthew 6:9-13

We have read in two different passages of scripture that our prayers must align with God’s will in order for us to receive them.

The Bible says that we are to 17 Pray without ceasing. 18 In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
1st Thessalonians 5:17-18

The will of God is that you talk to him about everything you are facing in this evil world, about every decision you are making concerning your life for it is written,
“5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart; and lean not unto your own understanding. 6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Proverb 3:5-6

Praying is the most important thing we can do and it is the most important thing to do for one another.

If you are sad, pray.
If you are afraid, pray.
If you are hungry, pray.
If you are without, pray.
If you are happy, pray.
If you are bold, pray.
If you are full, pray.

Whatever and where ever you are in your life prayer changes things.

In It is the power of God.

I pray that you will become a person who prays, a person who trust in God to hear and answers your prayers.

Until next time, I love you
