The Children of Disobedience
The Lord God was very clear in saying that it is better to obey than to sacrifice.
The world we live in has been deceived by the god of this world which is Satan according to the Holy Bible II Corinthians 4:4 and as a result it is evil.
Everyday we make decision and act out things that are not pleasing to the Father of us all,The Lord God . We disobey the One who has made us in his image according to the book of Genesis chapter 1 verse 26. We blatantly ignore God’s ways and choose disobedience Instead of obedience.
God says we are to love one another, we choose not to love. God says, “We are not to covet after earthly riches” so we covet after riches. God says not to have sex out of wedlock but we have sex with each other before we marry. Time after time we have chosen not to live like God commands us to live.
God does not like disobedience for it is written, “5Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry. 6For which the wrath of God comes on the children of disobedience.” Colossians 3:5-6
Satan has made fools of us all for it is clear where our disobedience will lead us to for it is written, “23For the wages of sin is death.” Romans 6:23
Jesus came into the world to set the example, to show us how to live in this flesh body and yet not disobey God. The world we live in is evil but we are instructed to keep ourselves from evil doing. We have been given freedom through Christ to no longer obey Satan but to obey God with the help of his Holy spirit for it is written, “22But now you are free from the power of sin and have become slaves of God. Now you do those things that lead to holiness and result in eternal life.” Romans 6:22
We were all children of disobedience at one point in our lives but through Jesus we can be free for it is written, “1 And you he (Jesus) quickened, you were dead in trespasses and sins; 2Wherein in time past you walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince (Satan) of the power of the air, the spirit (Satan) that now works in the children of disobedience.” Ephesians 2:1-2
The term disobedient is not a flattering term but in this world being bad is attractive. Satan has convinced the world to believe that it is some how beneficial to turn our backs to God. God says, “22Thou shall not lie (have sex) with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination. Leviticus 18:22 and again, “13If a man lies (has sex) with a man as one lies (has sex) with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination. They must be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads.” Leviticus 20:13 But in the world we live in people have chosen to disobey God, everything and anything goes.
There is great discrimination in this world also if a person has great wealth they are preferred above others. If a person is of a certain race of people they are allotted opportunities over others, If a person has great beauty or great physical ability they are shown favor above others. Satan has caused people to join themselves to an evil work for God says that we are to love our neighbors as we love ourselves and not to discriminate.
So brothers and sisters the Apostle Paul said it best for it is written, “1Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children 2and live a life of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.
3But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God’s holy people. 4Nor should there be obscenity, foolish talk or coarse joking, which are out of place, but rather thanksgiving. 5For of this you can be sure: No immoral, impure or greedy person—such a man is an idolater—has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. 6Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of such things God’s wrath comes on the children of disobedience. 7Therefore do not be partners with them.
8For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light 9(for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth) 10and find out what pleases the Lord. 11Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them. 12For it is shameful even to mention what the disobedient do in secret. 13But everything exposed by the light becomes visible, 14for it is light that makes everything visible.
This is why it is said: “Wake up, O sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.”
15Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, 16making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. 17Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is. 18Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery.
19Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord, 20always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.” Ephesians 5:1-20
